Eileen Pettit – Middle School Social Studies Teacher
Mrs. Eileen Pettit was born and raised in a strong Christian home in Myerstown, Pennsylvania. She accepted Christ at the age of 11. After high school she attended Washington Bible College, which is now a part of Lancaster Bible College, and received a Degree in Bible and Education. Mrs. Pettit returned home to Myerstown to live after teaching many years in Virginia and Florida.
She is the proud mama of two grown Godly sons. Alex, an airborne combat medic for the United States Army and Mike, a recent graduate in cell biology from Bob Jones University.
Mrs. Pettit has always found extreme joy in guiding students to reach their God given potential and in bringing them to a greater understanding of how the Bible is integral to their education.
Jeremiah 32:17 ESV “Ah, Lord God! It is you who have made the heavens and the earth by your great power and by your outstretched arm! Nothing is too hard for you.”
Michelle Schmidt – Middle School Language Arts Teacher
Michelle Schmidt was born and raised in Virginia where she became a Christ follower at the age of seven while attending Grace Bible Camp. God further used Grace Bible Camp to introduce her to Grove City College where she graduated with a B.A. in English and English Secondary Education in 2002.
Michelle lives in Myerstown with her husband of 16 years (whom she also met at Grace Bible Camp) and three children, ages eight, six, and three. She joined the New Covenant team in the Fall of 2017 after nine years of public school experience, five years as a stay at home mom, and three as a homeschooling mom. She is thrilled and thankful to be a part of New Covenant Christian school both as a teacher and as a parent.
Not surprisingly, Michelle’s love of the middle school age group also began at Grace Bible Camp during “teen weeks.” She loves their enthusiasm for learning and interaction. Plus, she is an English nut and loves all things reading and writing. Michelle uses a workshop approach in the classroom, immersing students in reading and the writing process on a regular basis. Choice is also a hallmark of her classroom.
Michelle’s life verse is Romans 8:28: “And we know that in all thing God works for the good of those who love Him, who have been called according to His purpose.”
Jessa Williams – Middle School Science Teacher
In 2003, she married and moved from urban New York City to rural Pennsylvania. She joined the ministry at Summit International School of Ministry, where her husband serves on faculty and with the pastoral staff. She served as Internship & Missions Program Director and taught various courses as a faculty member at the school. She also served as director of Summit Kids!, which is the children’s church program at the school’s campus church, Summit Community Church. It was from this role, she realized how much she missed the day-to-day classroom life, as well as being in a school setting with children & teenagers. Thus, began her journey to get back into regular teaching.
Since Jessa has been teaching here at New Covenant Christian School, she has also been furthering her studies at Lancaster Bible College’s Capital Seminary & Graduate School. She is currently pursuing additional certification in English as a Second Language. Jessa also enjoys taking professional development courses in STEM (Science Technology Engineering Mathematics), where she has participated and continues to participate in grant programs to help enhance the learning experience for New Covenant students.
In addition to being married to a fabulous husband, Tim Williams, she is also the proud mother of two children. They are the joy of her heart and it is her desire to see them grow in the Lord and pursue the passions God puts in their hearts. In addition to her love for Jesus & education, she enjoys other creative outlets like ballet, theatre, knitting & reading a good book.
Her life verse is Hebrews 4:16, “Let us then with confidence draw near to the throne of grace, that we may receive mercy and find grace to help in time of need.”
